Professional Bio:

Hello! My name is Dr. Mary Kalpakoff. I am a Licensed Psychologist in Florida. I hold a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree and a Master of Arts in Psychology (M.A.). I have experience providing therapy in various settings (e.g., integrated medical centers, community mental health, and private practice).

I have specialized training in treating PTSD (and other trauma- and stressor-related disorders). I also have experience in treating other various mental health difficulties, including: depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, grief, adjustment issues, moral injury, spiritual struggles, and stress.

I completed my APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center and APA-accredited postdoctoral residency in the PTSD Division at The Miami VA Healthcare System.

I believe a good fit between therapist and patient is an integral component to healing. I utilize a warm, compassionate, and multiculturally-sensitive therapy style to collaboratively help individuals achieve their goals. I strive to create a safe and empowering environment for those I have the privilege to work with.

It is important for me to treat the whole person, and thus I use a bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens when conceptualizing my cases. I employ an integrative tailored approach to fit the unique needs of my patients. I have experience providing evidenced-based modalities, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Seeking Safety, Trauma Informed Guilt Reduction Therapy (TrIGR), Emotion Efficacy Therapy (EET), and mindfulness.

In addition to treating mental health ailments, I am passionate about personal development and assisting individuals to reach their highest potential. Inspired by Dr. Seligman, I believe humans crave not merely the absence of symptoms, but a meaningful life full of purpose, joy, love, and belonging.

It takes courage to believe in a better life for yourself. Personal change can be arduous, but I believe the growth and learning that one reaps from it is invaluable. You are worth the investment!

In the words of Maya Angelou, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

If you are ready to take that step, I am here to guide and walk alongside you. It would be an honor to work with you.
